Bounty of Blackberries

Bounty of Blackberries

BlackberriesIt has been pretty productive here at the homestead the past few months.  We’ve met some challenges that needed some immediate attention for example: conserving water in a drought, and discovering that one of our new addition to the chicken flock is wild at heart and helps herself to the vegetable garden.   2015_blackberry_harvest-2Did I mention the we are living in a drought state?  That’s right, imagine farming with manitory water restrictions.  So we started coming up with creative ways we can conserve water. For example: collecting water from the shower.  I don’t know about you but I don’t just jump into the shower as soon as I turn it on.  I wait for it to warm up and then jump in.  I thought wow! How about collecting the water during that process. So that’s what we do. We collect and repurpose water so that none of it is wasted.  Water is very essential.  I’ve learned not to waste it, and to use it wisely.  How do you conserve water at home?

Hope you all are doing well and keeping hydrated.

OXOXOXO
